LSU Health Med Student Fundraiser to Keep Camp Tiger Free for Families

Bids may be placed at bidpal.net/camptiger. All silent auction items with bids placed on them will close on Friday, March 11 at 9:00 pm. Items without bids will be discounted and remain open for an additional 24 hours, closing Saturday, March 12 at 9:00 pm.
Up for bid will be vacation packages to such exotic locales as Belize and Cabo; sports memorabilia including an Alvin Kamara-autographed football, a Taysom Hill-signed jersey, a Ja’Marr Chase-signed jersey, as well as a private suite at a Pelicans game; original works by local artists; restaurant gift certificates; jewelry; fashion items; hotel stays; New Orleans experiences and so much more. It’s a great place to shop for birthday, holiday, anniversary or other gifts as well as splurging for yourself while helping to make a unique and meaningful outreach program possible.While adjusting to their first year of medical school, LSU Health New Orleans medical students plan the Camp Tiger Benefit Auction, solicit donations and auction items. At the same time, they are planning and making all the arrangements for this year’s Camp Tiger, which will be May 23-27, 2022. The registration deadline for Camp Tiger 2022 is April 10, 2022.
With safety as their top priority in these uncertain COVID times, the medical students have planned both in-person and virtual Camp Tiger formats this year. With the huge success of last year’s virtual Camp Tiger experience, they wanted to continue this fun and exciting way for campers who may be unable to participate in Camp Tiger in-person. LSU Health New Orleans medical students volunteer their time to be counselors and staff for the camp. the Greater New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas.Camp Tiger was founded in 1985 by first-year students from the LSU Health New Orleans School of Medicine. Its mission is to give mentally and physically challenged children an enjoyable summer camp experience. For the campers, this may be their only chance to socialize with other children without being singled out for their disabilities. This camp lets campers be “just one of the kids” and provides them with the freedom to play, socialize and express themselves as healthy, vibrant children. Since its inception, Camp Tiger has benefited thousands of children from the Greater New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas.
LSU Health New Orleans’ medical students look forward to the opportunity to work with these exceptional children and serve the community.
